A silicon carbide Hexoloy® outer protection tube with a low coefficient of thermal expansion and superior corrosion resistance minimizes failure due to damage from thermal shock during startup and in cyclic process states. 

A sapphire inner protection tube provides a gas impermeable seal to protect the thermocouple inside from hydrogen migration and process poisoning.
